Dextran is in Rab5+ compartments. HeLa cell expressing mCherry-Rab5 (green) and after taking up A647 tagged 10 kD dextran (magenta) imaged using spinning disk microscopy. The white arrowheads point to dextran and Rab5 that colocalized for the duration of the video, indicating that dextran could be used as a marker for early endosomes.
