Farp1 regulates the dynamics and lifetime of dendritic filopodia. Cultured hippocampal neurons were transfected with shScramble, shFarp1, or Farp1sh resist constructs and were filled by the volume marker GFP coexpressed from these vectors (black). At 9 div, neurons were imaged by spinning disk confocal microscopy (Ultraview VoX spinning disk microscope; PerkinElmer). Collapsed stacks were acquired every 3 min for a total period of 30 min. Conditions include shScramble control vector (A), shFarp1 (B), or shScramble + Farp1 sh res (C). Red boxes highlight areas of filopodial turnover and red asterisks mark filopodia representative of those that were tracked for measurements of dynamics. Playback rate, 2 frames per second.
