Video shows a CAR fibroblast transfected with mCherry-actin and EGFP-myosin light chain. The filopodium (marked with the first arrow) kinked and was then straightened and drawn into the cell, concomitant with the accumulation of myosin into the filopodium bundle and its eventual integration into the contractile stress fiber network. The upper arrow indicates the transition of a bundle formed by filopodia at the cell edge into a stress fiber bundle containing myosin. Time-lapse images were acquired every 15 s and the total duration of the video is 42 min. The display rate is 6 frames/s. Bar, 5 µm.
