MEFs move using an elongated mode of motility in 3D matrix. Corresponds to Fig. 1 A. Time-lapse DIC light microscopy of MEFs within the 3D Matrigel network. Images of cells plated into a thick layer of Matrigel in which a gradient of serum growth factors was established. Moving wt MEFs maintain a spindle-shaped elongated morphology and generate extensions.
