Unaligned chromosomes persist in HURP-depleted metaphase cells. Confocal time-lapse microscopy of a control and HURP-depleted HeLa/GFP-H2B cell in mitosis. Images were captured every 30 s and displayed at 10 frames/s. For the control cell, complete chromosome congression occurs at 30:00 (minutes/seconds), with anaphase initiation at 38:00. For the HURP-depleted cell, a chromosome remained unaligned even at 59:00. Also see Fig. 1 F.
