Video 5.

Peroxisome movement during cell division as visualized by 4D in vivo video microscopy. All videos are accelerated 120-fold relative to real time. Strain: inp1Δ/POT1-GFP. Time of imaging: 184 min. All features characteristic of cells lacking Inp1p are seen in this video. Peroxisomes in the two cells at bottom perform chaotic, saltatory movements. All peroxisomes in the cell at lower right and most of the peroxisomes in the cell at lower left are transferred to the daughter cells. A peroxisome returning to the mother cell is also seen in the cell at lower right. The cell at top has only one enlarged peroxisome that is inherited with a delay due to its increased size.

Inp1p is a peroxisomal membrane protein required for peroxisome inheritance in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
