Videos showing chromosome segregation in extract to which buffer was added at the start of mitosis. Microtubules are shown in red and chromosomes in green. The microtubules and chromatin are shown together in Video 1. Video 2 shows the DNA alone, and Video 3 shows the microtubules. All videos were acquired using the microscope set-up as described in the Microscopy and data analysis stion in the Materials and methods. Frames were collected every 30 s, and are displayed at a rate of 10 frames/s.
